During the world-leading trade fair, IFAT ENTSORGA, for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, which was held in September 2010 in Munich, a contract was signed to implement the Santa Catarina Resource and Energy efficient Network Project in Brazil, known as ‘REEF Santa Catarina’ (Ressourcen- und Energie-Effizienz-Netzwerk Santa Catarina). This project will be led and coordinated by Arqum GmbH, a member of PU (Platform for Environmental Technology), WEHRLE Umwelt GmbH and the University of Stuttgart, based in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, and SENAI Santa Catarina on the Brazilian side. It will be executed over the next two years. The aim of this cooperation is to tackle environmental issues facing selected Brazilian companies with the support of environmental technology from Baden-Wuerttemberg, and also to include additional regions within Brazil as the next step. Discussions are already underway with other regional SENAIs and the central office in Brasilia. The development of this infrastructure will help to build distribution channels for WEHRLE’s environmental businesses in the medium term into the Brazilian market. The work has already started ‘locally.’ In October 2010 precision workshops were set up in Florianopolis and Blumenau. Brazilian companies have shown a lot of interest. Some companies were visited, participants being researched with the best conditions for this project. After gathering all the necessary information from individual sites a coordinated choice will take place. Following this, the chosen locations will be evaluated by individual environmental assessments and training courses will be held at the participating companies. Authors: Dipl.-Ing.
