For six years now, Wehrle and E-Square Environmental and Engineering Co., Ltd. from Bangkok, who are specialists in the field of environmental engineering and consulting, have been working together. During that time, the two companies worked on some smaller projects, undertook joint training sessions and actively marketed Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Technology in Thailand.

Recently, the two companies have been able to harvest the fruits of their labour: together they have won two projects in Thailand, projects with very different purposes and with completely different backgrounds. One waste water treatment plant will be built for the City of Bangkok ("Saimai", see below), another for PTT Public Company Ltd. (see PTT news) - Here, Wehrle and E-Square proved that they are an excellent team that can even outcompete strong rivals.

Both companies found that their cooperation was to their mutual benefit and satisfaction and decided to convert it into a longstanding, reliable collaboration agreement. On 1st October 2009 Wehrle and E-Square signed a cooperation agreement on the introduction of MBR technology in Thailand. The contract has an initial duration of 10 years.

"We are very pleased that we won a partner with the standing and know-how of E-Square and look forward to our joint future with joy and great expectations,“ said Hubert Wienands, Technical Director at Wehrle.

Project Saimai
For Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Wehrle and E-Square will build an effluent treatment plant at a reloading point for waste in the greater region of Bangkok, at Saimai. About 300 tonnes of municipal solid waste are being gathered each day and then transported to the disposal site. The leachate seeping from the refuse together with the dirty water from the cleaning of refuse collection trucks will be treated by using a combination of MBR and Nanofiltration. The concentrate from the Nanofiltration system will be treated further by a Reverse Osmosis. The treated water will be reused as washing water for the trucks.

Before placing an order, the BMA closely examined different treatment technologies and also visited different effluent treatment plants in Germany and China, among them MBR plants built by Wehrle. During this period of assessment, Wehrle and E-Square together convinced their client with their renowned reputation and Wehrle´s outstanding knowledge on leachate and leachate treatment plants, a field where Wehrle is one of the leading companies world-wide.
